Wine Making
It has been a long time since I have made a post on our blog, so I figured I should go ahead and contribute since I set this up.
Last night Amy and I attended our first Wine Club meeting in Warrenton. This was also just the organization’s second time meeting. We met at a private residence north of Warrenton where a land owner had just recently planted 2 acres of grape vines as his first step toward starting his own vineyard. It was very interesting talking to him and learning all the research he had to go through prior to planting anything. We got the chance to walk out and see the vineyard and then each of the members, including us, brought some of their home-made wine to share! This was great for us because we recently finished bottling our first wine kit (Green Apple Wine) and this gave us the opportunity to get some reactions from veteran wine makers! Everyone loved it!
A week and a half ago, I just started our second wine kit (Mango Citrus Symphony). We will have to pace ourselves with the Green Apple wine we have left in order to make sure we don’t run out of wine before the Mango is ready to drink in about 3 months!
I’ve never been a big wine drinker, but like beer, my taste buds are slowly starting to appreciate the wide range of wines out there. (Although beer was much easier for my taste buds to accept).
